University Entrance Exams in 2023 (Admission Campaign 2023)

For security reasons, the NMT will be held on one day. Testing will last 180 minutes, therefore, 60 minutes are allotted for each block. The test-takers will be able to allocate their time by themselves. So, those who complete the Ukrainian Language or Mathematics tasks faster will be able to work longer on the block of the chosen subject.

University Entrance Exams in 2023 (Admission Campaign 2023)

To apply for higher education, applicants will need to take the National Multi-subject Test (NMT). Last year, had to take a test in three compulsory subjects. This year, the assessment tool is refined.

The NMT will contain three blocks of tasks, two of which are mandatory, and the third one is optional for applicants. Compulsory subjects are the Ukrainian Language and Mathematics, while optional subjects include the History of Ukraine, one of the foreign languages (English, German, French, or Spanish), Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. An applicant will specify their chosen subject while registering for the NMT.

After completing all NMT tasks, each test-taker will receive information about the number of score points for each block. For competitive selection, the results of each block will be converted into a scale of 100–200 points. The Ministry of Education and Science will approve the score conversion tables in advance. Therefore, immediately after the test, a test-taker will know not only the number of points scored but also their results for admission. For all specialties, coefficients will be set for the results of each NMT block. The information about the values of these coefficients will be in The Procedure for Admission to Higher Education Institutions in 2023. This document will be approved shortly. To obtain a result on a scale of 100-200 points, you need to score not less than 10% of the total number of score points from each  NMT block.

The registration for test taking will take place in April. The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment will provide paperless registration. All applicants will be able to use a special service on the Center's website. They also can find the description of all stages of registration in detail there.

Currently, two NMT sessions are planned: main and additional. The main session will be held from June 5 to June 23, and the additional session - from July 11 to July 24. Those applicants who, for valid reasons, will not pass the test during the main session will be able to take the test during the additional testing session.

The registration for participation in the main session of the NMT will last from April 3 to May 3, 2023 via a special service posted on the website of the Ukrainian Center.

By May 7, 2023, the registered participants will be able to make changes in their personal account (e.g. choose another subject of the additional block or change the place of residence in Ukraine / abroad where they wish to take the NMT).

Within the additional period (June 5–12, 2023), persons who, for valid reasons, could not register for the NMT during the main registration period or who registered during the main registration period, but were denied registration for participation will be able to register.

Not later than ten calendar days before the start of the main NMT session, registered participants will have the opportunity to download an invitation from their personal pages, which will indicate the date, time, and location of their NMT session. Participants of the additional NMT session will be able to find out about the date, time, and location of their testing no later than three calendar days before the additional NMT session.

Information about the results of the main NMT session according to a scale score range from 100-200 points will be posted on the personal pages of test participants until June 28, 2023, of the additional session - until July 29, 2023.

Some Results of the Main NMT Session

As last year, the NMT will take place in specially equipped computer classrooms of educational institutions - Temporary Examination Centers (TECs) - arranged in settlements both in Ukraine and abroad. We will inform you about the countries in which the testing will take place as soon as we know all the addresses. The enemy keeps attacking our cities, so, like last year, testing will be suspended during air alerts and will continue only after the test-takers and TEC staff return from shelters.

The test-takers will be allowed to independently choose the third subject of the NMT. The results of testing in the elective subject will be accepted by universities, no matter what speciality to apply for. However, for admission to different specialties, different coefficients will be applied to the NMT results. If the applicant enters the Law courses, the result in the History of Ukraine will have more weight than in Biology, and vice versa for the medical specialties.

In the History of Ukraine in 2023 testing, test tasks will cover events of the second half of the 16th - the beginning of the 21st centuries.

In foreign language testing, there will be neither open-ended questions or tasks based on listening. We would like to note: the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment is developing a testing platform where future applicants will find similar tasks to practise soon.

As last year, applicants will be allowed to use reference materials when working with math tasks.

The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment will prepare demonstration versions of all NMT blocks no later than May 2023, so test-takers will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the testing format and practice completing the tasks.

It is important to remind that applicants who have got the 2022 NMT results and the 2021 or 2020 EIE (ZNO) results can use them instead of the 2023 NMT results to apply.

Everyone who applies for a Master's degree based on a Bachelor's degree will take the Unified Entrance Examination (UEE), which will have two blocks:  the General Education Competency Test or the Test in General Education Competency (TGEC) and a foreign language test (English, German, French, Spanish). Also, for admission to specialties 05 Social and Behavioral Sciences, 06 Journalism, 07 Management and Administration, 08 Law, 28 Public Management and Administration, 29 International Relations, it will be necessary to take and pass the Unified Professional Entrance Exam (UPEE).

Currently, two UEE, UPEE sessions are planned: main and additional. Exams will be held from June 26 to July 18.
