NMT-2026: summary of results

To ensure that every registered participant — totaling 359 981 individuals — could take the NMT for admission to bachelor’s degree programs, testing was organized and conducted over 19 days in Ukraine and abroad. These included a main session (17 sessions between May 20 and June 25) and an additional session (2 sessions between July 17 and July 24).

NMT-2026: summary of results

In 2026, despite wartime challenges — such as massive shelling and frequent, prolonged air raid alerts — the practices established in previous years were successfully maintained and improved. The NMT followed the model used in prior years: participants took tests in four subjects — three mandatory (Ukrainian language, Mathematics, and History of Ukraine) and one of their own choosing.

A total of 359 981 individuals registered for the admissions process. Of these, 253 352 were completing their full general secondary education that year, while 106 629 had completed it in previous years. Additionally, 18 691 participants registered to take the test abroad.

 In 2026, the NMT could be taken either within Ukraine — wherever the security situation allowed for the establishment of testing centers — or abroad, in 54 locations across 32 other countries.

A total of 1 263 testing centers were engaged to facilitate online testing during the main and additional sessions. These centers were established at 917 educational institutions in Ukraine for the main session and 196 for the additional session, as well as at 60 educational institutions or other facilities abroad for the main session and 23 for the additional session.

All testing centers for the 2026 NMT in Ukraine were set up in facilities equipped with shelters. In certain regions — specifically Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv — the challenging security situation necessitated that all testing centers operate within civil defense shelters. This same approach was implemented at select institutions in other regions as well.

This enabled participants to continue working on their tests without interruption, even during air raid alerts lasting several hours.

It is worth noting that establishing testing centers directly within shelters was the result of effective cooperation between Regional Centers for Educational Quality Assessment and local authorities, particularly regional military administrations.

In total, 324 288 individuals participated in the NMT during the main sessions, representing 91.49% of those registered. Participant turnout for the main sessions was 91.94% in Ukraine and 82.95% abroad.

A total of 5 421 individuals participated in the additional NMT sessions (4 640 in Ukraine and 781 abroad). Turnout for the additional sessions of the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) was 75.25% (76.82% in Ukraine and 67.1% abroad).

English and geography were the most popular elective subjects. A total of 113 110 and 112 514 individuals, respectively, opted to take the certification exam in these subjects. Biology was chosen by 76 231 participants; Ukrainian literature and physics by 39 123 and 11 380, respectively; German by 4 017; and chemistry by 3 042. French and Spanish were chosen by 342 and 222 participants, respectively.

Additionally, this year, tests — with the exception of those for Ukrainian and foreign languages — were made available in four national minority languages: Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, and, for the first time, Crimean Tatar.

The option to take the test in these languages was utilized as follows:

  • Hungarian - 497 participants,

  • Romanian - 18,

  • Polish - 3.

No participants chose to take the test in Crimean Tatar.

A total of 275 934 participants successfully completed the NMT during the main sessions (receiving a score on the 100-200 point scale for the four NMT subjects). 4 863 participants successfully completed the NMT during the additional sessions (receiving a score on the 100-200 point scale for all NMT subjects), representing 89.71% of those who took part in the additional sessions.

In 2026, 4 002 NMT participants achieved top results — scoring the maximum 200 points in at least one subject.

Among them:

  • 3 712 participants scored 200 points in one subject;

  • 260 participants — in two subjects;

  • 28 participants — in three subjects;

  • 2 participants achieved the maximum score in all four subjects.
